Originally homesteaded by Rus Hudler, this land was granted by Roosevelt and Taft to the Hudlers, along with 2.4 acre feet of water rights off the Red Top Ditch, which flows approximately 70 days per year through the property. The property was utilized for housing of families who worked on the construction of the Granby Reservior. Also known as the "married man’s camp". Served as ranch headquarters for the original 5,000 acre Hudler Ranch. Several cabins on property were originally located on the lake floor of Granby Reservior. Teams of mules drug these cabins over log by log and were reassembled on the site. Hudler family one of the oldest Ranching families in this area of Grand County. |
